In North America, bamboo’s market share is now between 1 & 2%, over the next decade bamboo is estimated by many to command in excess of 10%. We are trying to decide on hardwood, leaning towards brazilian cherry or brazilian teak, both due to the high hardness rating.
Yesterday we saw a flooring that was bamboo, which I never cared for because of the look of the wood, Trillium. They are woodgrain enhanced bamboo flooring with a 35 year residential warranty. Can I install my Trillium® floor over top of preexisting hardwood, laminate, vinyl, tile or stone floors? Yes, however, the existing floor must be smooth and flat.

Yes, follow all recommendations in the Trillium installation guide, as well as the installation guide of the membrane or panel manufacturer. What humidity level should I keep my home at to best maintain my hardwood floor? The optimal relative humidity (RH%) range is 35% to 50%, it should be maintained year round. A central humidifier is the best solution during the heating season, however, you can also use a medium to large sized portable humidifier depending on the size of your home.
